Clarence Hobbs, a 96 year old resident of Trenton, passed away at 9:28 a.m. at the Sunnyview Nursing Home of Trenton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2011 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. A visitation is scheduled Friday from 10:00 until service time. Open visitation will begin Wednesday at noon.
Mr. Hobbs was born on March 4, 1915 in Harrison County, MO the son of Ezra and Sarah Cunningham Hobbs. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He was married to Rita Hampton on October, 13 1951, she preceded him in death on April 5, 1971; he later married Naomi Mann on September 28, 1974, she preceded him in death on September 9, 2000. He worked in the insurance field as an adjuster traveling in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois. He moved back to Trenton in 2001. Clarence was a member of the Church of Christ, Elks Lodge #801, VFW Post 919, and the American Legion Post 31.
Mr. Hobbs is survived by 3 nephews, Harold D. Hobbs of Liberty, MO, Donald Hobbs of Shawnee, KS and Edmon Hobbs of Osceola, MO; 2 niece, Lois Gannan of Chillicothe, MO and Mary Louise Gannan of Tulsa, OK; 2 step daughters, Connie Johnson of Beach Island, SC and Jackie Ruyon of Jacksonville, FL; 2 step grandsons, Denny Johnson of Beach Island, SC and Kevin Johnson of Jackson, SC, 7 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren; also surviving are several great, great great, and great great great nieces and nephews.
In additions to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 6 sisters, 3 nephews, and 4 nieces.
Memorial donations are suggested to Springer Cemetery and may be left with the funeral home.
