Robert “Bob” Cooksey, a 77 year old Edinburg, MO resident, passed away at 3:44 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 at his residence where he was under hospice care.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. A scheduled visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Resthaven. Burial will be in the Edinburg I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Edinburg, following military rites.  The family will be accepting guests at the house of Cassy Gilworth, 579 NW Hwy 146, Trenton.
Mr. Cooksey was born on November 5, 1937 in Montgomery, AL the son of Ray and Edith (Brewer) Cooksey. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961 as well as 2 years active reserve. He was married to Linda Callen on September 9, 1966 in Princeton, MO. He worked 9 ½ years as press foreman at Republican Times. He worked for Carnation and Nestlé for 26 years, retiring from Nestlé in 1997. He worked 5 years in the Con-Agra store. He farmed most all of his life and enjoyed woodworking.
He was a member of Dockery Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Grundy Center United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 31, Edinburg I.O.O.F. Lodge, and also a member of Boy Scout Troop 99 and the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Surviving relatives include his wife Linda of the home; daughter, Tammy Burgess and her husband David; son, Cory Cooksey and his wife Carla; and daughter, Cassy Gilworth and her husband Derek, all of Trenton; four grandchildren, Calvin Cooksey, Megan DeVorss, Carly Wanstreet, and Kennedy Wanstreet; 5 step grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Lois Morrison of Colorado Springs, CO; and mother in law, Helen Callen of Princeton, MO
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in law, Ralph Morrison; father in law, Richard Callen Sr.; and a still born daughter, Melinda Jean.
