Jim Griffith, a 91 year old, Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 7:00 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2015 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. A visitation is scheduled from 1:00p.m. until service time Saturday. Open visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Memorial donations may be made out to the First Baptist Church or the donor’s choice and left with or mailed to the funeral home.
James Richard Griffith was born May 31, 1923 in Gilman City, MO to Walter and Edith Mae (Oram) Griffith. He graduated from Gilman High School before attending Trenton Junior College and Northeast Missouri State College. On September 27, 1944 he was united in marriage to Leo Lorene Sharp in Troy, KS. Jim enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1944 to 1946 where he fought in the European Theater including the Battle of the Bulge. After his military service Jim worked at Gambles for 12 years and then worked for the Rock Island Railroad until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the First Baptist Church as well as the V.F.W. and American Legion.
Surviving relatives include his daughter Judith Thomas and her husband Mickey of Carrolton, MO, son Richard Griffith and his wife Dawn of Trenton, a brother Gene Griffith and his wife Frieda of Gilman City, MO, 6 grandchildren; Jeremy Clinkscales, Jamie Sullivan and her husband Brian, Amanda Clinkscales, Angie Bonderer and her husband Jimmy, Jennifer Jackson and her husband Steven, Matt Griffith and his wife Lauren, step grandchildren Autumn, Tristin and Hunter Trask, and 10 great grandchildren.
Those preceding him in death include his parents, wife, and a grandson Caleb Clinkscales.
