Rosemary Cudney, 89, of Trenton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February  17, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Trenton. Burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Trenton. A visitation will be from 6:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 16, 2015 at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Trenton or Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City, MO and can be mailed to Resthaven Mortuary, PO Box 587 Trenton, MO 64683.
Rosemary was born on October 8, 1925 in rural Grundy County, Missouri. The third of ten children to Jo and Inez (Bain) Hamilton. Raised on the family farm, she graduated from Princeton High School in 1943. She married her childhood sweetheart, Marvin Cudney, on April 9, 1945 while he was stationed with the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. They were blessed with one daughter, Diane Cudney.
Rosemary was very active in the Trenton community. She served as an election judge in the 2nd ward for many years. She was a member of DAR and she helped form a committee to restore and rededicate the Memorial Arch in Moberly Park. She was a member of the Eagles, American Legion, and VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Rosemary was a Girl Scout leader for many years and a charter member of the Grundy County Museum. She was also a member of the First Christian Church in Trenton. She was an avid golfer for many years as a member of Riverside Country Club, and she participated in many tournaments throughout the state of Missouri.
Rosemary enjoyed gardening and working outside and she will be remembered for her beautiful flowers. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds, and as a result, a wide variety frequented her yard. She was passionate about politics and her love for our country, and always enjoyed a good debate.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers, Howard Hamilton, Cloyd Hamilton, and Robert Hamilton.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Cudney of Trenton; two grandsons, Bryan Chumbley and wife Julia of Endora, KS and Brad Chumbley and wife Patricia of Trenton; six great grandchildren, John, Zac, and Ross Chumbley of Eudora, KS, Garrett Runnels, Josie and Jeremiah Chumbley of Trenton; two brothers, J.R. Hamilton of Modina and Kenneth Hamilton of Princeton, MO; four sisters, Deleta Johnson of Princeton, MO, Nadine Elliott of Spickard, MO, Colleen Torrey and husband Boyde of Spickard, MO, and Joann Brodie and husband Jim of Trenton; brother-in-law Jim Cudney of Ava, MO; sister-in-law Marilyn Hamilton of Smithville, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
