Joyce Buckner, 75, of Trenton, passed away at 3:44 PM on Friday, October 31, 2014 at her home while under hospice care surrounded by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Dockery Chapel Church, south west of Trenton. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Brookfield. A scheduled family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home of Trenton.
Joyce was born on January 11, 1939 the daughter of Earl Eugene and Mary Naomi (Herring) Buckner. She graduated from Meadville High School. She began her nursing career in 1967. She worked in Leon, IA, Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, returning to Trenton as O.R. Supervisor at Wright Memorial Hospital. She received her various nursing degrees ending with her Bachelor of Science in nursing while working full time and raising her three children. She retired form ConAgra in Milan as an Occupational Health Supervisor. She was an avid gardener and wood worker.
Survivors include her companion, James Crouse of Green City, MO; daughters Cindy Connell and Sandy Gomel of Trenton; a son, Billy Gomel and wife Judy of Elsberry, MO; and sisters, Phyllis McHargue and husband Ronnie of Creighton, MO, Donna O’Connor and husband Dave of Cameron, MO, and Linda Baugher and husband Loren of Galt, MO; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl "Eugene" Buckner, a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Connell; a niece; and a great nephew.
