Richard Davidson, an 85 year old Trenton, Mo. resident, passed away at 12:42 pm Sunday August 18, 2013 at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Mr. Davidson was born on August 14, 1928 in Edinburg, MO. He is survived by his wife Betty, to whom he was married sixty six years. Other survivors are his son, Dennis Davidson and his wife, Cindy of Liberty, MO; daughter, Diane Stolzberg and husband, Bob of Chesterfield, MO; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Long and wife, Wanda of Edinburg, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olive and Burl Long, and four infant siblings.
He graduated from Trenton High School and was a conductor on the Rock Island Railroad prior to his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Trenton. He was a former president of the Local Brotherhood of Railroad and Railmen. He was a long time member of the Riverside Country Club where he served as a board director and was an avid golfer. He also served as assistant scout master of Boy Scout Troop 97. He was a prior member of the Elks Club.
For many years he helped prepare the men’s breakfast at the First Baptist Church where he was well known for his homemade biscuits. Many families in the community will remember he would bake and deliver his homemade apple pies to friends.
