Shirley Ann Walker died at her home south of Trenton on Wednesday, March 07, 2012. She was 69.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at Cornerstone Church in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Stucker Cemetery, south of Trenton. A family visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 10th, from seven to eight p.m. at Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Walker was born on July 14, 1942 at Trenton, the daughter of Gerald and Grace Ricketts Spencer. She attended the Liberty and Skinner rural schools and graduated from Trenton High School in 1960. She then attended Trenton Junior College for one and a half years.
She was married on December 31, 1961 to Harold Walker. In 1963 they moved to Texas and then California while Harold served in the Army. Then in 1965 they moved back to Trenton and purchased a farm where she lived the rest of her life.
Mrs. Walker graduated from North Central Missouri College in 1989 with an Associate of Arts degree. She worked for the Pleasant View R-6 School as a cook for 15 years and then as a Para Professional in the KEY’s program for six years. Shirley and her husband were also parents to eight foster children, keeping some for several years.
After retirement Shirley spent her time in volunteer service, helping with the Meals on Wheels program in Trenton and the Chillicothe Food Pantry. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Chillicothe.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Walker; two sons, Shawn Walker and wife Nancy, and Corey Walker and wife Ruby; seven grandchildren, Kurt, Stephen, Amanda and husband Adam Hopper, Samantha, Sarah, Nancy, and Riley Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gary Spencer.
Mrs. Walker desired memorial contributions go to the Samaritan’s Purse shoe box program through Cornerstone Church.
