Marcella Fairley, a 91 year old Newtown, MO resident, passed away at 7:37 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Kirksville Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Newtown Christian Church, Bro. Denny Daum will officiate. A scheduled visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church, there is no visitation planned at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt. Burial will be in the Center Grove Cemetery near Newtown.
Mrs. Fairley was born on April 19, 1920 in Newtown, MO the daughter of Benjamin and Marcella Lowry Pigg. She graduated Newtown-Harris High School. She catered weddings and made cakes for 65 years. She was married to Kenneth Fairley on July 28, 1943 in Santa Monica, CA; he preceded her in death on November 25, 1994. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, flowers, and gardening. She was a member of the Newtown Christian Church, Newtown Extension Club, and Harris Town and Country Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Rogers and her husband, Randy of Kirksville, MO; a son, Terry Fairley of Harris, MO; three grandchildren, Kristin Farwell and her husband, Matthew, Nick Martin and his wife, Megan, and Gentri Martin and her fiancés, Michael Dierling; 4 great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Luke Farwell, and Lucas and Lainey Martin; also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia; and 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
