Ralph E. Terry, an 85 year old resident of Melbourne, MO and retired business owner at Melbourne and Jamesport, passed away at 12:15 AM Wednesday July 20, 2011 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. A visitation will be held Friday evening at Resthaven Mortuary from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested to the Wright Memorial Home Health and Hospice. These may be left at the Resthaven Mortuary at P.O.Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
Mr. Terry was born September 5, 1925 to W.O. “Buck” and Anne Mary Layson Terry. . Mr. Terry graduated from Gilman City High School in 1942 and then joined the U.S. Navy and fought in WWII. After his discharge he returned to Melbourne and he went to Texas in the winters to roof and this is where he met his future wife, Aletta. On May 24, 1947, he was married to Aletta Smith After their marriage they moved to Melbourne where Ralph owned and operated the Melbourne Roofing Company for over 60 years. They had also owned and operated the Melbourne Grocery for several years. In his younger days, during the winter, Ralph worked in the Black Diamond Coal Mine. After retirement, he owned the Mustang Restaurant in Jamesport, MO for seven years
Mr. Terry is survived by his wife Aletta of the home; 2 daughters, Lisa Hedrick and her companion, Alan Souders of Jamesport, MO and Connie Hanes of Trenton, MO; a sister, Marilyn Blakesley of Trenton, MO and a son-in-law, Fred Boland of Columbia, MO; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Boland, a sister, Vivian Phillips; and a son-in-law, Wayne Hanes.
