John Robert Wilbur Jr., a 70 year old resident of Spickard, MO passed away at 2:25 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Military Honors will follow. His body is to be cremated following the services. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 until 7:00 Friday evening at the Mortuary. Memorial donations are suggested to Back Pack Buddies and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
John Wilbur was born November 5, 1947 in Carbondale, PA to John Robert Sr. and Ruth (Giles) Wilbur. On April 4, 1968 John enlisted in the United States Army in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He served in the Army retiring as a Master Sergeant after 24 years and 1 month. His decorations and medals include ; Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Presidential Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal,NATO Service Award, Continuous Honorable Active Service, Immediate Reenlistments, Expert Marksmanship Badge rifle, M-16 and Missile. On August 31, 1968 he was united in marriage to his High School Sweetheart Marie Miklus in Ft. Bliss, TX. He was a member of the Trenton First Baptist Church as well as the V.F.W. and the American Legion. In his spare time John was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing
Surviving relatives include his wife of the home, son John Robert Wilbur III of Spickard, Daughter Marie Caprice of Mesa, AZ, a brother Butch Wilbur of Platte City, MO, sister Ruth Ann Kellogg of Roaringbrook, PA, and grandchildren Courtney Sykos of Arvada, CO, Sara Bowers of Mesa, AZ and Robert Bowers of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents.
