William Walter Pease, a 96 year old resident of Phoenix, AZ and former Galt, MO resident, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 in Phoenix.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Grundy Center Cemetery in rural Trenton, Missouri. Open visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday at Payne Funeral Home in Galt. Memorial contributions that will be used to plant a tree in the Galt Park in honor of Walter may be left at the funeral home.
Walter was born on January 13, 1919 in Fulton, Missouri to George A. and Martha (Breid) Pease. He graduated from Spickard High School in 1937. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946, during World War II, and attended four years of college at the University of Missouri. From 1954-1974, Walter joined in partnership with his brother John to form the Di-Mar Jersey dairy farm. Walter moved to Galt in 1975. He resided there until he moved to Arizona in 2001.
Walter worked at Trenton Foods for 25 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Mission Bell United Methodist Church. Walter was an avid gardener. Flowers from his flower garden adorned the Galt Baptist Church’s sanctuary every Sunday.
Walter is survived by his sisters-in-law: Letha Henley of Humphreys, MO; Lucille Pease of Geneseo, IL; and Mary Mullins of Trenton, MO; and nieces, Martha Jackson of Galt, MO; Dixie Cox of Trenton, MO; Sandy Smith of Brimson, MO; Beth Gross of Trenton, MO; and Becky Gross of Chillicothe, MO, and other nieces and nephews living out of the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Pease, Liford Pease, and Breid Pease; and sisters Helen Almond, Dorothy Darr, and Elizabeth Schumacher.
