Katherine Marie Bonta, a 90 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Living Center in Marshall, MO, where she has resided since October 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Rev Barry Boulware will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. Open visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Resthaven.
She was born in Trenton, MO on May 26, 1923 the daughter of Floyd and Imidee (Childers) Kirkwood.  She graduated Trenton High School in 1941. She was married to Maynard W. Bonta in Trenton, MO on July 3, 1943. She was an accomplished Seamstress, Secretary for Wesley United Methodist Church, first employee of Modine Manufacturer as a Personnel Secretary, Administrative Assistant for Grundy Electric Co-op. She retired in 1985.  She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and served on numerous boards and committees, member and past President of Business and Professional Women, Riverside Country Club, and numerous bridge clubs. Her hobbies were sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, playing bridge, crosswords, and dancing.
Mrs. Bonta is survived by her husband, Maynard Bonta of Trenton, MO; a daughter, Sara Hargrave and her husband, Jim of Marshall, MO; two grandchildren, Rob Hargrave of Marshall, MO and Jamie Collins and her husband, Tyler of Jefferson City, MO; and three great grandchildren, Alexis Hargrave, Logan Collins, and Leighton Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wesley United Methodist Church, Grundy County Jewett Norris Library, or Mary Montgomery Hospice in Marshall, MO. They can be left at or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary, P.O. Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683

Words are difficult at this time as even though we are miles apart our families are so close. As the many memories and fun times come flooding back, know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow. Katherine will always be a part of my life. Love you lots.

I have many fond memories of Katherine, both as a neighbor and a co-worker. She was an amazing lady and enjoyed her wonderful life. My prayers are with your family--
