Mary Linda Witten a 79 year old former resident of Trenton, MO passed away at 2:45 p.m., Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, MO.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Whitaker Eads Funeral Home of Trenton. Burial will be at the Salem Cemetery at the Forks of the River. A visitation is scheduled from 2:30 until service time on Sunday. Open visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested by the family to go to the Twin Pines Resident Christmas Fund in lieu of flowers.
Mary Linda Witten was born February 6, 1933 in Trenton, MO to Willard and Eula Crawford Witten. Mary had one brother, Jim Witten, one sister-in-law, Hilda Witten, three sisters, Carmen Prewitt, Jeanne Anne Jones and Celia Vaughn, and husband Bill all from Trenton. Mary graduated from Trenton High School in 1951 and married Merlin D. Jobe. To this union were three daughters, Patricia McCoy, Pamela Brown and husband Marty, Peggy Allen and husband Steve. Mary and Merlin divorced in 1964. Mary had six grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Amy Thiemann and husband Shawn in Washington, MO, Jessica Sharp of Independence, Tina Phillips of Mexico, MO, Mason Allen of San Jose, CA, Marshall Allen, Helendale, CA, and Stacy Allen of Kirksville, MO. Her great grandchildren were: Ryann and Cooper Thiemann, Cameron and Jackson Montemayor, Olivia Sharp, and Dalton Philips.
Mary graduated from Trenton Junior College in 1967 as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at Wright Memorial Hospital for many years.
In 2003, Mary moved to Kirksville, MO and at the time of her death was a resident of Twin Pines Adult Care Center.
Mary was a very good and caring nurse who enjoyed her occupation and the patients she cared for. She enjoyed working in the yard and tending to her many flower beds, as well as picking up a good find at an auction. Her greatest joy came from her love for her daughters and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also known to watch a few baseball and football games, while making a pot of chilli.
